We are excited to be one of only two Internal Medicine practices in Georgia to be a pilot office for the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH). The Patient Centered Medical Home is an approach to providing comprehensive primary care. A key concept is the relationship-centered personal medical home for all patients, which serves as the focal point where a medical practice team takes responsibility for the ongoing coordinated and comprehensive care of patients. We are a NCQA certified Patient Certified Medical Home (PCMH).
Dr. Laena Karnstedt is a board-certified internal medicine physician in practice at Lanier Adult Medicine. She received her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine in 1991, and went on to complete her internship in internal medicine in 1992.
After completing an externship in outpatient internal medicine in Waltham, MA in 1993, Dr.Karnstedt performed her residency at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Boston.
Dr. Karnstedt has been licensed in Georgia to practice medicine since 1995 and is a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, and the American Medical Women's Association. She has a special interest in women's issues and increasing physicians and patients awareness of mental health issues.
Dr. Karnstedt received the Northeast Georgia Chapter of The American Heart Association's Physician of the Year Award in 2008 for her work to promote women's health issues. She is also a founding member of WomenSource with a mission of creating personal and professional success for women of all ages and backgrounds in Northeast Georgia.
