This dentistry has dishonest practices and the dentist performs terrible work. I had a crown done here and it has fallen out twice now. Since January 2017, I came to Alhambra Family Dentistry to have a regular cleaning and was told I needed a special cleaning. I wasn't given an estimate and they went ahead with the cleaning, costing $240 to my surprise. Then, I needed a root canal on a tooth and when they did the X-ray, the dentist was not comfortable with doing the root canal because she saw a shadow on the X-ray and sent me to a specialist who performed the root canal and mentioned the shadow was just my nasal cavity. I went back to this first dentist to finish the crown. They gave me options, none of which were covered by my insurance, which I found out later, telling me that all porcelain was not covered and the better option since the tooth was near the front. I was given a price of $900 but on the day that it was put in, my bill jumped to $1,200 for reasons I didn't understand. The crown fell out soon after and was put back in and has fallen out once again. When I went the first time for them to put in my crown after it fell out, the dentist was rude and abrupt and told me I was at fault for it falling out. I have had other crowns and none have fallen out. I chose this dentist because they are within walking distance and they take my insurance but it is clear for bigger ticket procedures they make up their own pricing and do not use the insurance guide. I have downloaded my insurance statements and it looks like they claim different things than I was treated for and charged. I believe this dentistry takes advantage of its patients who don't know the language associated with dentistry and use dishonest practices to overcharge them.

I looked up a Dr. Ela and found that she was in my network. I was incredibly careful about selecting the dentist. I didn't even necessarily need a cleaning right away, but I went ahead and visited her office because it was the end of the year and didn't want to waste my benefits (since I was paying for them). Despite my best efforts, I was still screwed and had to pay an egregious amount for a cleaning and overall terrible service. It was so bad that the (what I can only describe as the businesswomen in the dentist's office) pulled me in her office to apologize, and gave me $5 gift card to starbucks. In retrospect, that was adding insult to injury. This is completely unreasonable and makes me question why anyone would ever visit her office.
