Dr. Crum performed my roux en y bypass over 20 years ago in South Norwalk. Despite my living in New Haven, near to large hospitals with gastric surgeons, I chose his program based on low mortality rate, expertise, and supportive staff. I found him straight forward, and yes, arrogant. Who cares? I'm not dating him, I'm making a life changing decision with real risk of death possibility. Best choice I made. I went in at 287 pounds, attended mandatory meetings, and was better informed post surgically than the attending nurse who brought me a ginger ale and forgot to apply leg compression cuffs. While he checked his hair in the mirror, his physician assistant and anesthesiologist were my cheer leaders. Prior patients attended post support meetings and volunteered to take calls from the nervous newbies. I followed protocol, never thinking I would exceed my goal weight and have to start cheating to avoid getting too thin! Over 20 years later and still around 135 pounds, eating anything I want. I was sad to hear he was leaving for Texas just as my journey was starting. I wanted so much to attend those meetings as another successful patient, willing to assist the fearful to make the same journey with confidence. I was textbook, off the operating table in an hour. I grabbed the IV stand, pinched the gown closed, and did laps through the halls. The weight fell off so fast, new clothes weren't worn quickly enough to cut off the tags. Best decision of my life. Best surgeon to do it. Thank you Dr. Crum. I hope life is treating you well.

If this is the right Dr.Ralph Crum that did my gastric bypass the day after 9/11! I Love this Doctor! He saved my life. He really cares about his patients. He is an amazing doctor. Norwalk hospital did him wrong for giving the bypass center to the Flock Brothers!
