Morris County NJ Personal Trainer Unveils His 6 Steps To Survive Holiday Weight Gain!

By Jose Fuentes/Certified Nutritionist/M.S./CPT/Copywriter

Obesity has been linked to an increased of digestive track problems. There are many potential monkey wrenches that wreak havoc with your metabolism and impede your ability to lose weight. Most of the food in today's diet is heated, cooked and processed. Unfortunately heat destroys enzymes which means much of our food contains little or no enzymes at all. That is why it has become so important to add enzyme supplements to your daily diet. Like vitamins and minerals that replenish key compounds in the body, enzymes are needed to complete bodily functions and operations.

The enzymes found naturally in whole, live, raw foods help with obesity at the "whole being" level. Enzymes do much more in your body than help digest food. Enzymes are responsible for every single chemical reaction in every single cell of your body. All your minerals, herbs, vitamins and hormones cannot do their jobs without enzymes. In fact, you could say that enzymes are, biologically speaking, the source of life. A diet without a source of live enzymes is removed from the source of life. Things removed from their source of life slowly begin to die. For us, that leads to disease, excessive weight gain, depression - many of the maladies that plague us today.

How they work and who they are?

One of the magic bullets for easy weight loss is simply the action of enzymes. Pancreatic enzymes are at the top of my list when it comes to weight loss. They are classified in 3 groups and most of us don't consume enough. Pancreatic insufficiency is the inability of the pancreas to secrete enzymes needed for digestion. Having an insufficient amount of pancreatic enzymes is very common among people with pancreatic cancer. When the pancreas does not produce enough enzymes to break down food, pancreatic enzyme products are needed. Doctors sometimes prescribe digestive enzymes, including pancreatic enzymes, to patients who have conditions that cause poor digestion.

The 3 names are: lipase, protease, amylase.

Lipase: Lipase works with bile from the liver to break down fat molecules so they can be absorbed and used by the body.
Sources: Unfortunately, the richest food sources of lipase, raw butter and cream, have been outlawed in most Western countries. Individuals with genetic or age-related lipase deficiency will find it difficult to obtain enough lipase in commercially available raw food. Fortunately, lipase capsules have in recent times become more easily available.

Proteases: Those are enzymes that break down proteins. Produced by fungi, bacteria, plants, and in the digestive system of humans and animals, protease enzymes play an important role in digestion.

Sources:

Papaya
Papaya is a rich source of papain, a protease found in the fruit and leaves of the plant.

Pineapple
Pineapple contains bromelain, a protease found in the stem and fruit of the plant. Bromelain is known for its anti-inflammatory and digestive benefits and has been used in the treatment of heart disease, arthritis, and other infections. This enzymes works by breaking down proteins in the stomach as well as in swollen tissues around the body. Add bromelain to the diet by mixing pineapple chunks into smoothies or adding pineapple salsa on fish. Bromelain is also available in tablet form.

Amylase:
Carbohydrates are one of the three major food groups needed for proper nutrition. Amylase is the digestive enzyme needed to digest carbohydrates.
Natural dietary sources of amylase include all raw fruits and vegetables, sprouted seeds, raw nuts, whole grains, and legumes.

Pancreatic insufficiency may cause feelings of indigestion, cramping after meals, large amounts of gas, foul smelling gas or stools, floating or greasy/fatty stools, frequent stools, loose stools and weight loss. People with these symptoms should consider pancreatic enzyme supplements.
A dose of enzyme supplements containing 30,000 - 40,000 lipase units at each meal may help achieve these results.
