Lunchbox Treat: Hearts and Stars

Strawberries have a wonderful heart shape with the nutritional value that lives up to its shape. That's right -- they're heart healthy! Starfruit's cookie cutter "star" shape offers instant fun and a good amount of vitamin C. If you've never tasted starfruit its flavor is like a cross between an apple and a strawberry -- Yum!

Combine these two fruits for a terrific lunchbox surprise for your Super Star student! A little squeeze of lime juice will keep this fruit salad fresh until it's ready to eat.

Choosing Starfruit and Strawberries at the market:
-- Also called Carambola, choose starfruit with glossy yellow skin with brown spots along the ridges (this indicates sugar development).

-- Select strawberries that have a bright red color, a natural shine and fresh-looking green caps.

That's a great nutrient packed combination for kids (or anyone else). The strawberries are loaded with antioxidants and the starfruit is a fiber and vitamin bomb! Tastes delicious too! Thanks for the tips!
