Everything Old Becomes New

(Originally Published September, 2005)

In Yoga we often refer to the idea of becoming more flexible. This idea applies not only to the body but to the mind & Spirit as well. Aging is usually associated with being rigid, stiff and inflexible-(hence the
expressions "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" or "I'm too old and set in my ways.".) Youth is associated with flexibility, energy and creativity. Both flexibility and creativity are learned behaviors.
There is documented evidence that by learning to be more flexible, (in both Mind and Body) you can biologically renew yourself at every moment and can actually influence & ultimately reverse the aging process!

Flexibility comes from: Learning to let go and by learning to be creative. By being willing to let go of & move on from past & present experiences, relationships, work and people who do not serve us,we demonstrate the age-reversing principle of flexibility. By attaching our minds to outcomes, ideas, beliefs, our past & our wants & our possessions we become physically rigid, strained & stressed, we stagnate, decay and age rapidly. In our minds we beleive that this attachment to these things represent security, but they really do not. The only true security is the one that comes from within, by cultivating an attitude of curiosity, acceptance and flexibility. Flexibility and
acceptance allows you to embrace the unknown, detach from a particular outcome & reverse the aging process.

Without flexibility, there can never be creativity. Creativity is the process of taking an experience, information or materials and transforming it into something that has never been created before. If you are improving on something you already have, that is innovation, but true creativity brings something into existence that has never been before.

You have unlimited creative potential that can be used to solve any problem you are facing! This requires focus and a quantum a leap into awareness. When you learn how to become aware, flexible and to reawaken your creative response, you will recapture the energy and enthusiasm of your Youth.

As you begin to let go of old attachments, beliefs and habits, you will feel renewed, refreshed & young! Constantly aim search for new, creative ways to express yourself. A new idea, belief, experience, dance movement, clothing style, exercise, food or music will energize your body and soul. You never know what you may discover about yourself or how it may infinitely change your life!
