Heal Thy Practice: Transforming Patient Care Long Beach Nov 9-11

Congratulations on a successful conference to the organizers, presenters, and participants of Healing Thy Practice Conference in Long Beach over the weekend of November 11th, 2012. These folks are Independent physicians looking to delivery real primary care in the form of counseling, medical nutrition, balance women's health, stress management, and various delivery models.

As a physician, I am not ready yet to embrace all the information I was exposed to, but there are exciting areas of exploration. Without wanting to ignore other valuable participants, I do want to bring attention to the areas mentioned above. I will attempt to bring these people (physicians, educators, companies) into the discussion.

Commentary: One form of research or disciplined inquiry is writing. While healthcare is in a tizzy, patients need to become consumers and physicians need to become teachers and educators, so these "consumers" can make better choices. In other words, while the government and insurance companies are and will be "forcing' a lot of decisions, a consumer still has a chance to make choices in the arena of personal health behavior.
