Beat the Heat with This Unconventional Summer Detox Regimen

Not just about food, folks! This summer detox regimen is about your entire body. Because although we are what we eat, food isn’t the sole thing that influences our health. The mind-body connection can’t be ignored, and banishing those negative thoughts is just as important as banishing those negative foods! 

Before summer is over, you can beat the heat with this unconventional summer detox regimen. So whether you’re sitting by the pool every day or stressed out at work, this article is bound to get you up-and-going again. Because you know, those people who sit around all the time increase their chances of death and all. 

Let’s stay lively this summer with this summer detox program! 

1. Exercise Wisely

I like going for a four-mile run in 90 degrees as much as the next person, but for the interests of your body, let’s not and say we did, shall we? 

Keeping your body from getting overheated is essential. You can reduce your risk for heat illness, not sweat out important electrolytes, and not be completely and totally exhausted after only a half-hour of exercising. Sound good?

Good. So you can exercise wisely by determining which exercise will be best for you at which time of day. I like to exercise in the afternoon, but some people prefer morning or evening. If you like to exercise in the morning or evening, a run will certainly work at those times. If it’s extremely hot in your area, choose to hit the gym instead for your run.

You may also choose to incorporate yoga or strength training into your workout just so you don’t have to die outside. Nobody likes dying on the side of the road!

2. Say Hello to Coconut Oil

As if your diet wasn’t fabulous enough! Say hello to coconut oil this summer if you haven’t already as part of your summer detox regimen.

4. Take a Vacation

When was the last time you took a vacation? I’m talking about a real vacation—one in which the only thing you have planned is to not plan anything at all. 

It doesn’t have to be a long or expensive vacation, but take a vacation for yourself this summer. The relaxation and recharging time can help to restore your body and your mind.

Focus on remaining present and truly enjoying yourself on this vacation. Take your partner, or, you know, don’t. Leave the pets and kids at home. Even if it’s just one night, hey—do it!

5. Love Yourself

This summer, as part of your detox regimen, just love yourself. It’s that simple. Don’t worry about the future or regret the past or hate your body.

If you’re in good health, realize how amazing this is and embrace it. You’re a strong, beautiful, amazing person. Whether it means smiling at yourself in the mirror or ditching the boyfriend who told you you were fat, love yourself this summer! There’s nothing more detoxifying than positive thoughts and getting rid of negative energies in your life. 

Whether you’re sweating out your self-hatred or taking a vacation away from the critters, beat the heat by detoxing the summer. Give yourself a break from work. Exercise smarter, not harder. Summer won’t last forever—do these five things while you can!
