Stadia Sports Medicine was founded by Chad Carlson, MD in 2006. Dr. Carlson came to Des Moines from Champaign, IL where he functioned as one of the team physicians for the University of Illinois and worked for Carle Hospital. During his time at Carle, Dr. Carlson noted that injured patients would often start their physical therapy with one therapist and end up seeing multiple different therapists during their treatment course. Stadia Sports Medicine strives to preserve optimal care through several methods. First, we provide adequate time with the physician to try to ensure accurate diagnosis. Second, we always try to put people on home exercise programs when their problems warrant it and when they desire it. Third, when physical therapy is necessary, we keep patients with their original physical therapist whenever possible and do not use therapy assistants. Finally, since physician care and therapy is integrated in the same office, communication about patient care is immediate.
