Dr Sonia C. Simoes began practice in Newark, New Jersey. Dr. Simoes graduated from Ross University School of Medicine in 2004. She then started her internship and residency at University Hospital of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). Upon completion, Dr. Simoes started fellowship training in Nephrology at UMDNJ where she served as Chief Renal Fellow. Dr. Simoes also received the highest award for scholarly research by a fellow at UMDNJ. After completion of fellowship, she and Dr. Patel joined together to form their new practice.
Dr Simoes is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. She speaks Portuguese, Spanish, and French. Her interests include kidney stones, lupus nephritis, and difficult to treat high blood pressure. She has expertise in various types of dialysis including home hemodialysis.
