It was probably one of the most bizarrely unprofessional consultations and follow up emails I have ever had. The consolation ended up being over 1 hour late and then it ended up just being a phone call with terrible audio quality. It was incredibly hard to hear him at points. Even during the call, the surgeon conflated electrolysis and laser hair removal. This could be fine if he had two different sets of required number of sessions, but he said that he treats them effectively the same... That is just not how that works at all. I figured I could just clear it up by sending a follow up email with the parts that I missed. The response that I got was... strange. These two snippets for example: Some surgeon require hair removal in the are prior to a vaginoplasty. In his consult note he stated that you were planning to complete hair removal which is fine. If I am going to undergo an extremely expensive and permanent procedure with brutal aftercare, I really need to know that the surgeon and their team has everything in order. This was just so messy and confused. I am not comfortable going under the knife with such an uncoordinated team.
This was an initial consultation. My actual conversation with the doctor was helpful and supportive and left a good impression. I did not like that I had to wait more than half an hour in a treatment room for the appointment to begin - I would have hoped that, since the doctor was evidently running late, another staff member could have given me a heads-up and that I could perhaps have waited in a more comfortable place. I was also puzzled that more photos were taken since I provided photos with my intake forms.
