Dr. Smith at Avian Health Services has been my avian vet for almost twenty years. She is hands down the BEST avian vet in the area, bar none. I once second-guessed her findings on one of my parrots and took him to U.C. Davis, where he underwent extensive testing, crop-swabbing, bloodwork, etc, and they came back with exactly the same finding as she had, at about ten times the cost.

I have finches, cockatiels, parrots, and chickens, and I trust them all to Dr. Smith. She has a very small office, so small overhead, and her prices are ridiculously low. I actually tell her that she needs to raise them! She also makes house calls in both the Placerville and Sacramento areas.

She typically has a staff of one person only, and that person has always been super nice and very pleasant to talk with when I call to make an appointment.

When I bring a pet to Dr. Smith, I always feel that she is giving me 100% of her attention. On the very rare occasion when I have to wait, because she has had an emergency or unexpected delay and still has a client in her exam room at the time of my appointment, she always apologizes and then takes her time with me, and doesn't make me feel like she is rushing to get back on schedule.

I would and have recommended her as the ONLY vet, avian or otherwise, I would ever trust with my birds.

Immediately! They gave me a friendly greeting as soon as I walked in

Not at all! I've never seen my pet so calm. They really have a gift with animals here.

No, but there was a little grass outside the office so it was fine

When your pet had to stay in overnight care did this veterinarian call you with follow-ups when they promised they would?
Absolutely, they usually call more times than they say they promised. I was fully informed the whole time.
Did this veterinarian fully explain your pet's condition?
Absolutely, I knew exactly what my pet had and what treatment options were available.
Was this veterinarian able to perform all basic as well as complicated procedures?
Absolutely! They handle everything from annual shots to complicated illnesses, with competence and loving care

Not at all! They were always present and attentive

This is the best vet I've ever had for my birds. Dr. Smith is a vet who is very warm and professional with my fids. They seem to know that she is there to help them. I have a huge Macaw and she can do just about anything with him for he trusts her. If my parrots trust her so do I;
