I had surgery with Dr. Rivadeneira in June and September. 2015 for rectal cancer. He spent the time to make me and my family fully understand the the testing and procedures, in addition to the post operative experience. I would highly recommend Dr.Rivadeneira for his skill, caring and empathetic manner.
Dr. Rivadeniera is a wonderful doctor. I am a RN, so I am very picky about my HCPs (health care providers), but Dr. Rivadeniera is one of the best, hands down! I am a young female and Dr. Rivadeniera treated me for pilonidal disease. I had a pilonidal cyst that was causing me discomfort and pain, and Dr R. treated me successfully in two visits. For those that do not know, Pilonidal disease is a condition in which one develops an abnormal skin growth located at the tailbone, between the buttocks, that can contain hair, a cluster of hairs, and\or infected skin. Pilonidal disease can be difficult to treat because the cysts that develop can often reoccur. After a simple procedure in his office, Dr. R successfully treated my cyst with NO complications after the cyst was lanced. He advocates for the best treatment option for his patients, and you can tell he genuinely loves what he does! I work in the health care field, and it is not often that you get a doctor who actually sits down and talks to you for a solid 5 to 10 minutes before examining you. He is trustworthy and develops a good rapport before proceeding with any form of examination or treatment. As a female with a sensitive condition in a sensitive area, I felt VERY comfortable with Doctor Rivadeniera. He is very knowledgeable and explains everything thoroughly in a way anyone can understand; if you do not understand or if you have any questions, Dr. R makes sure all of your questions are answered before proceeding with anything. Doctor Rivadeneira and his nursing staff are wonderful! Highly recommend!
Dr. Rivadeneira and his staff are skillful surgeons and caretakes. My surgery was emergency of nature and Dr. Rivadeneira was there to aid me. His staff visited me early each morning during my hospital stay and was informative and meticulous with my care.
Dr. Rivadeneira's skill and compassion restored my confidence in surgical practice and he has helped me get my life back. I visited Dr. 'Riva' after another surgeon who, without ordering any imaging studies, booked time in the OR to remove a portion of my colon. I had sought treatment for many years for what turned out to be rectal prolapse, but was met with misdiagnosis and inadequate care by several doctors who didn't have the knowledge, caring or skill to diagnose the condition. I was was immediately impressed with Dr. Rivadeneira's excellent staff, caring manner and credentials. He ordered the test that showed the nature and extent of the problem and he did the surgery four months ago. I did not have to have any of my colon removed and everything works just fine! Thank you Dr. Rivadeneira!
Dr. Rivadeneira and his staff were outstanding, to say the least. I recently had a bowel resection surgery for diverticulitis. I was out of the hospital in 5 days and doing regular activities the following week! (a bit tired of course, but still incredible) Constantly reassuring and always there when I have a question. His commitment to excellence is obvious, and can be said for the rest of his team as well.
Had a colon resection on 6/8/15. Dr. Rivadeneira was very caring and professional. From the initial appointment to my follow up appointment, he never made me feel rushed. Dr. Rivadeneira and his staff were just the best, as well as the care I received @ Huntington Hospital.
Dr. Rivadeneira has made a complex horseshoe fistula condition tolerable. The LOO (lack of option) remedy requires a great deal of patience and fortitude. For just short of a year's time, Dr. Rivadeneira walked me through every step of the way. His level of caring concern makes all the difference. My advice to anyone in this situation would be to try to keep a bit of levity and a positive attitude (the jokes and puns are endless!); but the faith and confidence you can place in Dr. Rivadeneira is EVERYTHING! There is actually an infinitesimal part of me that just might hope the condition returns!
In August of 2011 l was diagnosed with rectal cancer .Because of the tumor locations I was told I would need a permanent colostomy bag. After two opinions from both my surgeon and one from the city I was told this was my only option .From January to April (2012) I had chemo and radiation and was due to have the operation in May. My numbers were good I felt great so I told my oncologist I didn't want this operation. I was told if I didn't go through with it I would be sorry. I asked if she would recommend a doctor for another opinion, I wanted to explore all my options before this operation .That's how I met Doctor Rivadeneira and he literally save my butt. He told me he liked to think out of the box and didn't feel I needed this major operation. Of course this was what I wanted to hear, so I was willing to give his recommendation a try. Doctor Rivadeneira operated on me to remove a rectal tumor in the spring of 2012. Four years later I am still cancer free and I live an active life with no colostomy bag. My life would have been completely different if had not consulted him. Thank you Doctor Rivadeneira and staff for hearing my concerns and helping me with an alternative approach.
I was a very reluctant candidate for the colonoscopy screening procedure having had a negative experience the first time. So, instead of going when I was supposed to, I threw out the renewal notices. My husband caught one coming into the house; and to make a long story short, I went for my test a year later than they desired! ( This time the experience was 300 per cent better :) !!!!
However, this time I had a suspicious tumor too big to remove that turned out to be colon cancer! Both my husband and I were shocked. It turned our lives around. The search for a colorectal surgeon began and we found Dr. Rivadeneira.
From our very first consultation I knew he was the answer to my prayers and the one I could trust with my life. He was just so caring and understanding of everything I was feeling and going through at the time; and, he also was empathetic with my husband's feelings also! You could tell that he had the expertise right at his finger tips, yet he drew the pictures out for you of exactly what was required for the surgery, what he would be doing , and the results to expect. He made it clear to understand, but he wasn't in any way talking down to us; he was explaining it to us in a clear, concise way.
He also had a bedside manner I haven't seen in many a year ... he cares! You're not just a number on a piece of paper and " I'll see you on surgery day". When he says, "Call me if you have any questions.", he means it!
It's about a month after the surgery, everything went well. He's aces in my book! Super surgeon, doctor, and most of all, caring individual who can take a "bundle of nerves" and relax them so that I could face what I needed to face and get on with my life.
SPECIAL NOTE TO ALL THE OTHES OUT THERE WHO ARE RELUCTANT TO HAVE THE COLONOSCOPY SCREENING:
HAVE IT DONE! That test saved my life! It caught the cancer early enough so that I don't need Chemo or radiation. My colon cancer was removed with 10 lymph nodes and some intestine; but, I am cancer free and I don't miss anything they took out!!!!
