I took my 84year old Aunt for surgery on a cataract and Glaucoma. The surgery and staff that assisted were fine. A resident or doctor don't know which who came in for one of the pre-exams before surgery, said some inappropriate things.eg: the chart didn't specify what surgery was being done that day and it seemed that the pressure was high in both eyes expressing that he wasn't sure the surgery could be done.... Then on the checkout side they never specified that she was to return to the Astoria office for the third visit. Instead they said that it was ok to go to Dr Masurri's office in Flushing. When she got there she was told that she needed to go back to Astoria to have a stitch removed...I feel that the checkout Desk in Astoria is a little disorganized. I was sitting there listening and at times they were not organized in what they were doing.....very slow and not sure of certain things. My Aunt should NOT have been subjected to this at her age with her condition. Please look into this Another issue I have is I find it hard to comprehend how Dr.Masurri's office wasn't equipped to remove a stitch and save her a trip to Astoria????it looks like poor organization again!!!
