I saw Dr. Perea for one year for HRT. Although I was told up front it would be one or two appointments, I had to return every 2-3 months and repeat expensive blood work every time. I understood this was to get a better diagnosis but the cost was over $3K for the year (visits, tests and prescriptions.) None of this is covered by insurance. Just as we had everything working, he refused to refill my prescription saying I was due for a mamogram in Feb (why did they not tell me that when they saw me in January????). My March appointment had been scheduled by them and my prescriptions ran out before that date. He refused to give me a 2 week supply until my appointment, at which point he would have had the mamogram results and the accurate blood work (he also wouldn't refill without the blood work but the blood work would have been inaccurate as I was not on the medications.) His solution was go without the meds for 2 weeks, pay for an office visit so he could review my mamogram AND conduct his own breast exam (despite a clean mamogram and my OB having done one), go back on the meds for 30 days THEN do bloodwork and THEN see him again. This could have all been avoided had they mailed a reminder that this exam was due, reminded me when I was in the office in January, or even better, given me a friendly call. The office staff seems disorganized and is often rude or abrupt. I'm used to physicans who treat me well and work with me and office staffs who are friendly and I found this experience very bad. I had recommended him to several friends and other practioners and I am immediately rescinding that recommendation.
