A good friend of mine has used this doctor since childhood for her epilepsy, so when my son was having seizures, she recommended him.

While on the surface it appeared a good visit, in our conversation he was condescending, dismissive, and rude. He was unwilling and unhelpful in trying to get to the root of my son's issues. I had never had any experiences with a neurologist before and was a young mom, so he persuaded me into believing I must have mis-read the signs and, anyway, there is nothing that needs to be done since my son's seizures were infrequent. He assured me "the brain is far too complex" for us to ever really find answers. He recommended one test which bore inconclusive results and then left me hanging. As an intelligent, educated and aware parent, it was only later that I realized how effectively he made me feel like an idiot.

It wasn't until we moved 800 miles away and sought help in a totally different city for my son's learning issues that we got anywhere. Turns out my son does have a neurological disorder that this doctor not only missed, but hadn't even bothered to perform very basic tests or recommend a specialist to do related tests. I am certain that had we remained under Dr Chalhub's care, I would have been persuaded that my son's issues were nothing to be concerned about, my son would be a failing student and a struggling human being. Under another's care we not only found a diagnosis, but answers, resources, support and information Dr. Chalub's office never offered.

I have heard from a nurse working at this hospital that all neurologists here have egos the size of Texas, but self-important peer pressure is no excuse in this matter. Oh, and now I find out their office is giving my old friend fits about insurance. She has been going to this man for over 30 years and they mess up her billing every time she goes in.

Time for this doctor to retire.
