I've been a patient of Dr. Elston's for seven years now. His personality is not the best however his medical knowledge is spot on. With a primary care physician I look for someone with a great bed side manner. However, in a field such as rheumotology. I prefer straightforwardness! There have been times that I've had to remind him he's a "partner" in my healthcare. That ultimately it's my decision regarding medications, etc. He can be very arrogant however, he can also have a sense of humor. Albeit rare.... my goal is to bring a smile to his face.... just because I can. I would recommend him to anyone that truly needs a knowledgeable specialist.

Please take the time to read the numerous reviews on this doctor. Most are about 3 stars, and I believe after bringing my elderly neighbor into see him ~ three times now- there is a good reason for this.
I've worked with many physicians in my career (both private practice and institutional)- the majority are nice people- they get busy, stressed and (understandably therefore can be) difficult at times. After 25 years, you learn to understand and get pretty good at handling them . Dr E is obviously intelligent & I'm sure competent in practicing medicine- but I am convinced that this man has some form of personality disorder - to see him switch (in minutes) from appropriate, to smug, then condescending, exasperated, sarcastic, to arrogant, disdainful, to patronizing - is like an astounding (and exhausting) roller coaster ride. You depart somewhat dazed wondering, what was that all about? I'm not sure what the issue with him is- maybe a distaste for those that do not adequately stroke his ego or a perceived competition with those having half a brain. He seems to want to create an argument or depreciate others. I'm not a basher- in fact, I think I've only written two negative reviews in my lifetime- but many nice commendation letters, I certainly hope your experiences are different.

I find Dr. Elston to be concerned and very consistant in all that he does. HE expects me to take part in my own care and knowledge of what my body is doing. He answers my questions based on research and often refers me to other information for better understanding. At first this frustrated me but as I learned with and from him I became more involved in the decisions about care. I appreciate him!

Not at all, they were one of the kindest, most attentive individuals I've ever met
