Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: I grew up in Arlington, Va., but I was actually born in an Indonesian refugee camp. My family immigrated to the United States from Vietnam when I was only a couple of months old. I was high school valedictorian before attending the University of Virginia for my undergraduate studies. I then attended Eastern Virginia Medical School, which is where I met my wife, Brooke. After medical school, we moved to Delaware for my general surgery training. We then moved to Cleveland, which is where we lived while I completed my Plastic Surgery Fellowship with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. I loved the idea that every day is different when you work in plastic surgery.
