Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: My mother was a registered nurse and was a large influence in why I decided to pursue a career in medicine. I volunteered at the hospital where she worked and was impressed by how much of a difference she made in patients' lives when they were often at their most vulnerable. Patients would often stop her while walking in the community to thank her for her excellent care and kindness. I chose podiatry specifically because of the immediate impact we can often have on patients' pain and the pivotal role podiatrists play in the prevention of devastating limb amputations. What I want my patients to know about me: I feel that patient education is key to a successful outcome.
