Mark S. Anderson, M.D., is a fellowship-trained Orthopedic Hand Surgeon at the Orthopedic & Specialty Hospital in Rapid City. Dr. Anderson completed a Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship at University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and an Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, CA. He obtained a Doctor of Medicine from University of New Mexico where also graduated summa cum laude, departmental honors as a Phi Kappa Phi Presidential Scholar with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry.
A member of the Wilderness Medical Society, Dr. Anderson has completed extracurricular courses for Rigging for Rescue Self-Rescue and Small Team Response, Level 1 and 2 recreational avalanche certification and American Avalanche Association-accredited professional level 1 avalanche certification. He previously volunteered with Albuquerque Mountain Rescue Council to rescue lost and injured hikers.
In his free time, Dr. Anderson enjoys skiing, running, cycling, climbing, culinary arts, scuba diving, photography and traveling with his wife, family and friends.
