Akhil Parashar, MD specializes in clinical cardiac electrophysiology, a very specialized field within cardiology which is used to diagnose and treat heart conditions that affect the electrical activity of the heart muscle, better known as cardiac arrhythmias.He received his medical degree from All-India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India. He completed his residency in internal medicine and clinical research fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, followed by a cardiology fellowship at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City, Iowa. He then completed an advanced fellowship in clinical cardiac electrophysiology at Montefiore Hospital, Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.Dr. Parashar is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine and echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography. He is also board certified in his primary specialty of clinical cardiac electrophysiology. Dr. Parashar also serves as the Associate Director for TidalHealth's Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program, in the graduate medical education (GME) division, where he mentors and trains the next generation of cardiologists.Dr. Parashar’s interests include outcomes-based clinical research and database building. He has participated in and authored many research publications and has presented at several scientific and professional conferences. He is a member of the Heart Rhythm Society, American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association and Sigma-Xi: The Scientific research Honor Society. He received the Paul & Mary Neuhauser Award in the Cardiovascular Fellowship Program at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.Dr. Parashar is a patient advocate and bases his practice on a philosophy of transparency, shared decision-making, and compassion.
